Dan Packel is a freelance writer based in Philadelphia. He writes primarily about food and travel, but has tackled subjects ranging from sports to Indian politics, and more. His work has appeared in publications and websites including the New York Times, Afar, Gastronomica, The Awl, Philadelphia City Paper, and Draft Magazine. He was awarded a Special Mention from the Symposium for Professional Food Writers for the James Peterson Food Writing Passion Scholarship. Formerly, he wrote the “Think Local” column for Philadelphia Weekly.
